Château Violette
Moulis AOC – Bordeaux – France
The origin of Château Violette dates back to the very early 20th century. Mr. Bégu, a retired gendarme, acquired a few hectares of hybrid vines at an auction sale. His son, Pierre Fernand, took over in the 1950s and replanted the entire vineyard during the following decade.
In 2002, his two daughters, Joëlle and Monique, took over from their father. The name Violette comes from Joëlle’s childhood memories, when she used to pick violets between the rows of vines in springtime.
The vineyard is managed in traditional manner, following the principles of responsible farming, with superficial ploughing and without anti-botrytis treatment.
Certified HVE3 as of the 2019 vintage.
